Roakus-E

Home battery installer in Antwerp

A home battery stores the electricity from your solar panels for the evening and lowers your peak draw for the capacity tariff. Roakus-E installs home batteries in Antwerp city and the districts, calculates first whether it pays off for your consumption and handles the inspection and the registration with Fluvius. We explain the Belgian side of it in English.

Where the battery goes in an Antwerp house

Space is the first question in the city. A terraced house in Berchem or Wilrijk usually has a basement, a utility room or a garage at the back where the battery and inverter can hang on a wall near the fuse box. Batteries need a dry, frost-free spot with some ventilation and should not be mounted in a bedroom or on an escape route. In apartments it is more complicated: the battery must be on your own meter, and the building association needs to agree to anything in shared areas. We look at the floor plan during the site visit and tell you honestly whether it fits.

Many installations in the city also involve the fuse box. An older box without a spare row or without a 30 mA residual current device needs adapting before a battery can be connected. We do that in the same project, because we are electricians first.

  • Battery added to existing solar panels, with a hybrid or separate inverter
  • New installation with panels, inverter and battery as one system
  • Backup circuit so fridge, heating and lighting keep running during an outage
  • Fuse box adaptation, inspection and registration with Fluvius

The capacity tariff, explained

Since 2023 the grid fees in Flanders depend partly on your highest quarter-hour peak each month, measured by the digital meter. This is the capacity tariff. A household that cooks, charges a car and runs the dryer at the same time at seven in the evening pays more than one that spreads the load. A battery covers those peaks from its own stored energy, so the meter sees a flatter profile. Combined with the low price you get for electricity exported to the grid, this is why batteries are still being installed in Flanders even though the regional subsidy has ended.

Whether it pays off for you depends on your consumption profile, your contract and the price of the installation. We ask for your data from the Fluvius app or portal, calculate a payback period and show it to you before you decide.

Inspection and registration

A home battery changes your electrical installation, so it must be inspected by an accredited body, and every battery must be registered with Fluvius, the grid operator for the whole province. We take care of both and give you the documents in a form you can forward to your landlord, your energy supplier or a future buyer. If you plan to add an EV charger later, we size the inverter and the fuse box with that in mind.

How it works

  1. Look at your consumption

We ask for your consumption data and look at your solar panels and your fuse box.

  2. Calculation and quote

You receive a proposal with capacity, brand, price and a realistic payback period.

  3. Installation

Usually in one day. We mount the battery, connect it and set up the control.

  4. Inspection and registration

We arrange the inspection and the registration with Fluvius and explain how to read the app.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install a battery in an apartment in Antwerp?

Sometimes. The battery has to be connected behind your own meter and placed in a suitable spot that belongs to you or that the building association has approved. We assess it at the site visit and say clearly if it is not feasible.

What does a home battery cost?

The price depends on the capacity, the brand and any changes needed at the fuse box. After the site visit you get a fixed price in the quote, together with the calculated payback period.

Is there still a subsidy in Flanders?

No, the Flemish premium for home batteries has ended. The case now rests on the capacity tariff and on using your own solar power instead of exporting it. We calculate it with your real figures.
