EV charger installation in Antwerp

Roakus-E installs home chargers in Antwerp city and the districts, for private owners, tenants with the landlord's approval and company car drivers whose charging has to be metered. We choose the right power for your connection, add the separate circuit and protection, arrange the inspection and do the mandatory registration with Fluvius. All of it in English if you prefer.

Where the charger can go in the city

In Antwerp the pavement in front of your house is public domain, so you cannot run a cable across it or mount a charger on the facade to charge a car on the street. A home charger in the city therefore goes in a garage, a carport, an inner courtyard or on a private driveway. In the terraced streets of Berchem, Wilrijk, Deurne and Merksem that is often a garage at the back reached through a side alley, or a converted ground floor. If you have no private parking at all, we tell you so at the first phone call, and you are better served by the public charging network.

In an apartment building with a shared garage the charger has to be connected behind your own meter or a separate metered supply. That takes agreement from the building association and sometimes a longer cable run. We have done this before and prepare the technical proposal you can bring to the meeting.

Single phase or three phase

Most older Antwerp houses have a single-phase connection. On single phase a charger delivers 7.4 kW, which adds roughly 40 kilometres of range per hour and fills a typical battery overnight. Three-phase connections allow 11 kW. Upgrading to three phase is possible through Fluvius but costs money and takes time, so we first check whether your current connection is enough for how you drive. We also set up dynamic load management, so the charger slows down when the oven and the dryer are running and never trips the main fuse.

  • Charger of 7.4 kW or 11 kW, with or without fixed cable
  • Separate circuit with residual current device and protection in the fuse box
  • Dynamic load management on an existing connection
  • Certified metering and link to the leasing company platform for company cars
  • Inspection and registration with Fluvius

Renting in Antwerp with an EV

A lot of the international community in Antwerp rents. You can have a charger installed in a rented house, but you need the landlord's written approval, and it is sensible to agree in advance who owns the charger when you leave. We write the quote in English and Dutch so the landlord can read it, and we can install a charger that is easy to remove and take with you. Registration with Fluvius is mandatory for every home charger in Flanders; we do it as part of the installation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I charge my car on the street from my house?

No. The pavement is public domain and a cable across it is not allowed. The charger has to be on private ground: a garage, courtyard, carport or driveway.

What does a wallbox cost installed?

The price depends on the brand, the power and the distance to the fuse box. After the site visit you get a fixed price in the quote, including the charger, the separate circuit, protection, inspection and registration.

I am renting. Can I still get a charger?

Yes, with the landlord's approval. We provide the quote in English and Dutch and can install a charger that can be taken with you when you move.
