What to do before we arrive

First check whether the neighbours have power. If the whole street is dark, the fault is on the grid and you should report it to Fluvius, the grid operator for the whole province, through its outage line or app. If only your home is affected, switch off all appliances and try to reset the residual current device or the tripped breaker once. If it trips again, leave it off. If you smell burning or see discolouration at the fuse box or a socket, switch off the main switch, touch nothing and call us.

In an apartment building the main switch and the meter are often in a shared cupboard in the hallway or the basement. If you do not have the key, call the building manager or concierge while you wait for us.

  • Total power failure while the neighbours have power
  • Residual current device or breaker that trips again immediately
  • Burning smell, heat or discolouration at the fuse box or a socket
  • Short circuit after a leak, flooding or building work
  • Loss of power in a shop, practice or restaurant during opening hours

Typical faults in Antwerp homes

In the older houses of Berchem, Borgerhout, Deurne and the centre we see the same causes over and over: a residual current device that trips because of moisture in a junction box after a leak, an overloaded circuit in a kitchen that was never designed for a dishwasher and an oven, worn fuse holders that overheat, and water damage from the flat above. In most cases we find the cause, isolate it and have the rest of the installation safely back in service the same visit. If a permanent repair needs more work or parts, we leave you with a safe temporary solution and come back with a quote.

For shops and restaurants we can bring a generator so cooling and the till keep running until the repair is done.

What it costs and how it works

An emergency call-out has a fixed starting rate that covers the trip and the first hour. Outside office hours the rate is higher. You hear the amount on the phone before we leave, in English, so there are no surprises. Parts are charged at cost. If you are renting, we can address the invoice to the landlord or the property manager if they ask us to carry out the repair.

Call the main number or send a WhatsApp with a short description and a photo if you can. We ask a few questions, tell you whether we are coming and roughly when, and give you advice for the meantime.

How it works

  1. Call or send a WhatsApp

Describe briefly what is happening. We ask a few questions and tell you right away whether we are coming and when.

  2. Make it safe

We find the cause and make the installation safe, so you have power again.

  3. Permanent repair

If it cannot be fixed permanently on the spot, we plan a second visit with a clear quote.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can you be in Antwerp?

From Mol it takes around fifty minutes to the city, slightly more to the districts on the left bank. We tell you on the phone what time to expect us. In the Kempen we are usually there within the hour.

Do you come at night and in the weekend?

Yes, seven days a week, day and night. Outside office hours a higher starting rate applies, which you hear before we leave.

I am renting. Who pays the emergency call-out?

Making the installation safe is urgent and you can call us directly. For the permanent repair the landlord is normally responsible. We can send the quote to the landlord or the agency in English or Dutch.
