Roakus-E

Air conditioning installer in the Kempen

Roakus-E installs air conditioning in houses and offices across the Kempen from its base in Mol: Geel, Turnhout, Herentals, Balen, Dessel, Retie, Westerlo and around. Split and multi-split systems that cool in summer and heat in the shoulder seasons, installed by an electrician who also does the electrical side. In English or Dutch.

Bedrooms under the roof

The typical request in the Kempen is a house where the bedrooms under a dark tiled roof become unbearable in July, while downstairs is fine. A multi-split with one outdoor unit and two or three bedroom units solves that, and the heating function takes the chill off in October and March without firing up the central heating. For a home office in the garden or a converted garage, a single split is usually the right size.

Detached houses give us freedom in placing the outdoor unit: on the side wall away from the terrace, on a bracket or a ground stand, with the pipework in a duct along the facade. We take the neighbours into account and keep the unit away from their bedroom windows.

  • Single split for one room, multi-split for several
  • Air conditioning with heating as main or supplementary heating
  • Air-to-air heat pump for a house without central heating
  • Separate circuit and protection in the fuse box
  • Annual maintenance and repair

6% VAT and what it requires

For a home that is more than ten years old and mainly used privately, the installation of air conditioning with heating is invoiced at 6% VAT instead of 21%. The installer has to carry out the work and you sign a short declaration about the age and use of the home. We apply it on the invoice. New builds and homes under ten years old pay 21%. If you are new to Belgium and unsure how old your house is, the year of construction is on the deed or in the EPC certificate, and we can look it up with you.

Combining with solar and a battery

Air conditioning runs mostly when the sun shines, which is exactly when solar panels produce. In the Kempen, where most roofs have panels, cooling in summer is close to free, and with a home battery the evening hours are covered as well. If you heat with the units in spring and autumn, we set the control so the system favours your own electricity. As electricians we add the circuit and the protection in the same visit, so there is no second contractor.

How it works

  1. Site visit

We look at the rooms, the facade for the outdoor unit and the electrical connection.

  2. Proposal

You receive a proposal with type, capacity, brand and fixed price, including the VAT rate.

  3. Installation

A single split is installed in one day, a multi-split in one to two days.

  4. Explanation and maintenance

We explain the controls and plan an annual service on request.

Frequently asked questions

How loud is the outdoor unit?

Around 45 to 50 dB at one metre, comparable to a quiet fridge. We mount it on anti-vibration feet and place it away from bedroom windows, yours and the neighbours.

Does my house qualify for 6% VAT?

Under conditions: the house must be more than ten years old and mainly used as a private home. We confirm at the site visit whether yours qualifies, then apply it on the invoice and ask you to sign a short declaration.

Can air conditioning replace my heating?

In a well insulated house, often yes with an air-to-air heat pump. In an older house it is more realistic as supplementary heating in the shoulder seasons. We say honestly what fits at the site visit.
